Whether you're exploring the outdoors, visiting local spots, or indulging in tasty treats, there's something for everyone. Besides documenting your trip with a photo session with Lauren Alyssa Photography (I love capturing your special summer memories!), here’s a list of some of the best ways to spend your summer weekend in Traverse City with kids:
1. Best Winery with Kids: Seven Hills Winery or Brys Estate
Wine tasting is usually an adult activity, but some local wineries in Traverse City offer a welcoming environment for families.
-Seven Hills Winery is a great option for families with its spacious lawn where kids can play while parents enjoy their wine. Though Seven Hills doesn’t have a vineyard, it still provides a peaceful setting for a relaxing visit.
-Brys Estate offers a more immersive experience with its vineyard and seasonal lavender farm, where kids can explore the fragrant fields. The winery also serves ice cream, making it an excellent stop for both parents and kids to enjoy.
2. Shorts Pull Barn in Elk Rapids
Take a short drive from Traverse City to Short’s Pull Barn in Elk Rapids for a family-friendly brewery experience. This spot is known for its great atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a welcoming environment where kids can enjoy the space while parents sip craft beer. The brewery often hosts events, and you can pair your visit with a trip to nearby Elk Rapids, a quaint town to explore with your little ones.
3. Pirate Ship Ride: Traverse City Tall Ships
